A special morning tea and cheque presentation took place today to celebrate the donation of $80,000 to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service from the Tomago Aluminium Workplace Giving Fund.

This generous contribution is part of the $144,000 total raised over the past 12 months by our employees and the business. An additional $64,000 was distributed among four charities selected by our employees: Emma’s Warriors, Dog Rescue Newcastle, Talk2MeBro, and Fighting for Connar.

Our relationship with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service spans over 22 years and was initiated by our unions. Together, we have donated over $1.2 million to support this vital service, which continues to save lives in our community.

Jason Bourke, Acting Head of Fundraising, Marketing & Media, said, “The support the Service receives from Tomago Aluminium and its employees is vital in enabling the Service’s aircraft and NSW Ambulance and NSW Health critical care medical teams to deliver up to four life-saving missions per day from any of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service’s bases in Lismore, Tamworth, and Belmont. These teams fly over 1,500 missions a year into communities across Northern NSW.”

This year, the donation will help to fund a new training winch.
