Tomago joined representatives from across Australia’s aluminium industry at Parliament House in Canberra on 11 August for the Australian Aluminium Council’s Aluminium Showcase 2026.

The event brought the nation’s complete aluminium value chain, from bauxite mining and alumina refining to smelting, manufacturing and recycling, together in one place for the first time, highlighting the industry’s scale and importance to Federal decision-makers.

More than 200 people attended throughout the day, including three Federal Ministers, who had the opportunity to see what Australia’s aluminium industry looks like from end to end and learn more about its contribution to the nation’s economy, regional communities and industrial capability.

“Australia is one of the very few countries in the world with a complete aluminium value chain, from bauxite to recycling,” Australian Aluminium Council CEO Marghanita Johnson said.

“Bringing our members together at Parliament House let us show government exactly what that capability looks like, in one room.”

CEO Jérôme Dozol and CFO Andrew Newman represented Tomago at the showcase, alongside industry colleagues from organisations including Rio Tinto, Alcoa and Capral. Australia’s aluminium industry supports more than 75,000 jobs and contributes approximately $18 billion to the national economy each year.

Tomago plays an important part in that contribution. As Australia’s largest aluminium smelter, we employ more than 1,000 people and engage approximately 200 contractors. Our operations contribute $2.2 billion to the Australian economy annually, including $800 million spent locally, supporting businesses, families and communities throughout the Hunter Region and beyond.

The showcase was an important opportunity to demonstrate the strength of Australia’s aluminium sector and the vital role it can play in the country’s manufacturing and economic future.
