Message from our CEO
“At Tomago, our focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is about strengthening how we work together. DEI helps us remove practical barriers, support our people and ensure everyone has what they need to contribute safely and confidently.
Creating a sense of belonging matters. When people know their ideas are valued and they can speak up without hesitation, we build trust, improve the quality of our decisions and lift our overall performance.
Our workforce has played a major role in shaping this direction. Through honest conversations and practical insights, our people are helping us create a smelter that works better for everyone. I’m proud of the progress we’re making and the shared commitment across Tomago to keep improving, together.”

Our Values
Our Commitment to DEI is about Building a Fairer Future – Together
At Tomago, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) means creating a safe, fair, inclusive, and respectful workplace where everyone can participate fully, perform at their best, and go home safe every day. Guided by our values of Teamwork, Achieve and Care, we are committed to celebrating differences, treating people with dignity and respect, promoting fairness, and ensuring equitable access to the tools, facilities and support needed to thrive.
DEI is not just reflective of our values; it is essential to driving creativity, innovation, strong decision-making, and sustainable performance. When people feel safe, respected and included, they communicate openly, raise issues early, collaborate more effectively and contribute ideas that improve safety and outcomes across our site.
Our Principles
Our DEI principles are grounded in our core values and are the foundation of our commitment to embedding a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment. They guide our behaviour and decision-making in all DEI actions, ensuring that we consistently uphold our values and create a workplace where everyone feels safe and is able to thrive. To read more on our commitment to DEI, please refer to our DEI Policy here.
Our Approach
Our approach to DEI is practical and grounded in the everyday realities of work. We focus on identifying and addressing barriers that affect safety, access, fairness, and participation. This includes ensuring:
- Clean, safe, and fit-for-purpose facilities
- PPE that fits properly and supports all stages of life
- Equitable access to training, tools, resources, and equipment
- Respectful behaviours and safe interactions onsite
- An environment where people feel confident to speak up and share ideas
Our DEI Committee, made up of employees from all walks of life across the business, play a central role in listening to our workforce, identifying issues, providing feedback, and driving practical improvements. Through structured engagement and clear pathways for raising concerns, the Committee helps embed DEI into the way we work every day and improves our inclusion efforts across our organisation.
Our Why
We are committed to fostering working relationships where every person feels welcomed and valued — regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, neurodiversity or any other status. We aim to create a workplace where diverse perspectives are respected, bias is actively addressed, and everyone can be themselves without fear of bullying, harassment (including sexual and gender-based harassment, retaliation, vilification, or victimisation).
We encourage a culture of upstanders, where people feel empowered to call out harmful behaviour and support one another. Inclusion and Psychological Safety are fundamental to our operations and to building a workplace where people feel safe to speak up, contribute ideas, and raise concerns early.
Our People, Our Future
At Tomago Aluminium, we value the contribution every individual makes to our success. We are committed to attracting, developing and retaining a diverse workforce, and we make employment decisions based on capability, experience and the needs of the business.
An inclusive culture underpins how we work. We embed respect, fairness and equity into our policies, practices and everyday behaviours, and we remain focused on continuous learning and improvement. By sharing the stories of our people, we recognise the experiences and perspectives that help create a safer, stronger and more inclusive workplace.
Recognising and Rewarding Our People
We recognise and reward the diverse talents and contributions of everyone from across our workforce. From operational excellence and innovation to teamwork and leadership, we celebrate the behaviours and achievements that support our success.
Our formal recognition programs include Employee of the Week and Employee of the Month, providing regular opportunities to acknowledge outstanding individual and team contributions. Each year, we also host an Annual Awards Night, where individuals and teams are financially recognised for their impact and contribution to our business.
Through recognition and reward, we reinforce a culture where people feel valued, respected and encouraged to perform at their best.
