Last week, Dog Rescue Newcastle received a substantial donation of $16,000 through Tomago Aluminium’s Workplace Giving Program. An equivalent amount was also donated to Talk2MeBro.
Talk2MeBro is a local charity dedicated to fostering open conversations aimed at reducing the incidence of male suicides in Australia. The charity expressed sincere gratitude for the contribution, emphasising its crucial role in facilitating community events, workshops, and the training of additional volunteers and mental health first aid providers.
Luke Lord, representing the charity, said, “The donation from Tomago Aluminium’s Workplace Giving Program will greatly assist our efforts in supporting mental health awareness and suicide prevention initiatives. We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed towards this donation.”
Health, Safety, and Environment Manager Michael Kemp, along with Executive Assistant, Ren’e Hart, and Maintenance Supervisor Nick Forbes were instrumental in nominating Talk2MeBro for the donation and were invited to participate in the cheque presentation.
This year, our Workplace Giving Program raised a total of $144,000, a testament to the generosity of our employees along with the contribution from the business. $64,000 was allocated to four charities chosen by employees: Emma’s Warriors, Dog Rescue Newcastle, Talk2MeBro, and Fighting for Connar.
Additionally, a special cheque presentation and morning tea scheduled for next Tuesday will see $80,000 donated to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
