Last week, Tomago Aluminium welcomed Federal MPs Meryl Swanson (Member for Paterson) and Dan Repacholi (Member for Hunter) to provide a business update and discuss the progress of our repowering process.  Both MPs showed strong support for our repowering initiative, emphasising the importance of collaboration between industry and government.

Dan Repacholi’s position as co-chair of the Parliamentary Friends of Resources Group, alongside Senator Susan McDonald, affords him a clear insight into the end to end value chain involved in resource extraction and processing.  This insight enables him to recognise the vital role played by industries such as Tomago Aluminium in Australia’s economy.

The Tomago Aluminium operations extend far beyond our production facilities.  We are the largest connected electricity load in Australia, relying on resources sourced from across the country.  From bauxite mining in the north to the extraction of gas and coal used in alumina refining and power generation, our value chain spans vast geographical regions and diverse sectors.

Our repowering journey signifies a commitment to sustainability and innovation which will reduce our environmental impact while ensuring the long-term viability of our operations.

The visit by Meryl Swanson and Dan Repacholi underscores the shared commitment to sustainable practices and collaboration between policymakers and industry leaders.  Their support is crucial as Tomago Aluminium continues its journey towards a greener future.

L-R: Dan Repacholi (Member for Hunter), Andrew Newman (Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary at Tomago Aluminium) and Meryl Swanson (Member for Paterson).
