Health & Wellbeing
Supporting employees in living full, safe and happy lives now and in the future.
Health and wellbeing in the workplace
Anyone looking to apply for a role at Tomago will be required to complete a pre-employment medical to ensure you meet site safety standards for health.
If you are employed you will then be required to undergo periodic medical surveillance to detect signs of potential illness or health changes at an early stage.
Tomago Aluminium has a team of on-site and contracted health services including Physiotherapy, Dietitian, Employee Assistance Program and visiting Occupational Physician and as a Tomago Aluminium employee, you will have access to these services.
In addition, we offer our employees’ health programs and educational initiatives to motivate them into healthy lifestyles such as weight loss and fitness challenges and health-based information programs addressing things such as improving sleep or better nutrition.
We also offer excellent benefits including a free on-site gym and discounted external gym memberships for employees and their immediate family.
Supporting and encouraging social interaction is important to us, which is why we have a number of social events held at different times throughout the year such as the Tomago Family Picnic day and on-site activities supporting RUOK day, Mental Health Awareness month, the white ribbon organization and others.

We also have a great Employee Assistance Program (EAP), giving all employees and their families free access to confidential counselling 24/7 and discounted corporate rates for Health Insurance.
We recognise that our operations involving hot environments and shift work can impact the health of our people.
We set clear requirements with minimum mandatory controls to manage and protect the health and wellbeing of our employees and contractors.
Some of the harmful health risks and agents at our workplaces include exposure to musculoskeletal stressors, noise, heat and airborne dust. We manage our exposures with internally specified occupational exposure limits (OELs).
Our OELs are in line with, or more stringent than applicable regulated limits.
At Tomago Aluminium, we have a culture of mates looking after mates and have developed a program that encourages employees to speak up if they see a mate at risk to ensure that every person goes home safely.
