Our final recipient from this year’s Workplace Giving Fund was Fight for Connar, nominated by one of our operators, Darren Dunning. This local charity, started by neighbours and friends of Connar, provides families of terminally ill children with support so they can spend every moment possible with their loved ones. Although Connar sadly did not survive, he wished for any leftover funds raised by his community to be passed on to others facing similar challenges.

The $16,000 donation from Tomago Aluminium’s Workplace Giving Fund has been allocated to a young boy, who is sadly at the end of life. Monica Halliday, Director of Fight for Connar, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Please let your team know that this funding has come at a crucial time in supporting this beautiful family so they can focus on building some memories. Thank you so much for supporting our charity.”

Thanks again to all our Workplace Giving members for their generosity and support throughout the year and thanks to Darren for nominating such a worthy charity.
This year, a total of $144,000 was raised through the generosity of our Workplace Giving members and contributions from TAC. Of this amount, $64,000 was distributed among four charities selected by our employees: Emma’s Warriors, Dog Rescue Newcastle, Talk2MeBro, and Fight for Connar. Additionally, $80,000 was presented to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service during a special cheque presentation and morning tea.
