Tomago Aluminium is once again demonstrating its commitment to fostering the next generation of excellence through its partnership with the Port Stephens Academic Scholarships Program.
In collaboration with 17 local businesses, Tomago Aluminium supported talented students at the Port Stephens Mayoral Academic Scholarship program. During a special awards night in February, 17 deserving young individuals were each granted $2,000 to contribute towards their inaugural year of tertiary education, empowering them to pursue their career aspirations.
Representing Tomago Aluminium, HR Advisor Giuliana Arnott had the honour of presenting the $2,000 scholarship to Jarrod Knorr, a deserving recipient. Expressing his gratitude, Jarrod remarked, “I would like to extend my wholehearted gratitude to Tomago Aluminium for this incredible opportunity. As a local student, I am keenly aware of the significant role Tomago Aluminium plays in our community. With this sponsorship, I aim to acquire a high-quality laptop to aid in my studies and maximize my university experience. I sincerely thank Tomago Aluminium for their support and look forward to maintaining a connection with the company in the future.”
Mayor Ryan Palmer, alongside representatives from Tomago Aluminium and other participating businesses, gathered to distribute a total of $40,000 to the most dedicated local students as part of the Port Stephens Mayoral Academic Scholarships.
Mayor Palmer commended the impressive range of fields being pursued by the applicants, spanning education, nursing, medicine, and science. He expressed gratitude towards the future leaders for their perseverance and diligence, particularly amidst the challenges of completing their HSC.
The selection of scholarship recipients was based on their academic excellence, achievements, and performance during the interview process.
Mayor Palmer extended his appreciation to all sponsors for their support in nurturing the future leaders of Port Stephens and facilitating the expansion of their professional networks, which he noted as invaluable for both businesses and students.
In closing, Mayor Palmer wished all scholarship recipients success as they embark on their academic journey in 2024 and beyond, encouraging them to pursue their goals with determination.
