Tomago Aluminium has once again supported the Port Stephens Mayoral Academic Scholarship Program by sponsoring a student to assist with their studies. Now in its fifteenth year, the program has helped over 170 students pursue their academic goals, thanks to the generous backing of local businesses.
This year’s Tomago scholarship recipient is Ellie Winter-Wilbow from Irrawang High School. Ellie is studying a Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Civil Engineering) at the University of Sydney and was thrilled to receive the scholarship. She plans to use the funds to purchase a new laptop for her studies and cover travel expenses to and from university.
Representing Tomago Aluminium, HR Advisor Giuliana Arnott presented the $2,000 scholarship to Ellie at Soldiers Point Bowling Club last Friday. The event, hosted by Port Stephens Council, highlighted the importance of industry support in helping young students achieve their educational goals.
Port Stephens Mayor Leah Anderson praised the strong collaboration between businesses and the community that makes the scholarship program possible. “This program, celebrating its fifteenth year, is a testament to the power of community collaboration and demonstrates their commitment to investing in the future workforce,” Mayor Anderson said.
Tomago Aluminium is pleased to play a role in supporting young talent in the region and looks forward to following Ellie’s journey. We wish her every success in her studies and future career.
