One in three Australians will need blood during their life.

Some need it to get them through a serious event in their lives, like cancer or a difficult pregnancy. Others have medical conditions, which mean they need blood regularly to stay alive or be healthy.

The Red Cross blood service collects samples to help people who need blood. They collect donations every day but the demand is still great and every drop counts.

The Red Cross mobile blood bank has been coming to Tomago Aluminium for some years now with both employees and surrounding residents providing donations.

Each donation saves three lives and in 2018 Tomago Aluminium employees provided 146 donations of blood, which means we saved an amazing 438 lives last year!

In February, the Red Cross mobile blood bank was once again on site, with a steady stream of TAC employees rolling up their sleeves.

Community Relations Officer from the Red Cross, Brian Bruce, was also on site and presented Anthony Cook with a special certificate to recognise the lives of 438 patients in the community that were saved due to Tomago Aluminium donations.
