Yesterday, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency released data under new legislation mandating employers to disclose the disparity in pay between men and women. With a national average pay gap of 27.7% and the highest reported at 73.1% in the Hunter region, it is inspiring to witness Tomago Aluminium leading the way with a mere 1.8% gender pay gap.

Tomago Aluminium’s achievement was highlighted in last night’s NBN News and various local publications, underscoring the company’s dedication to cultivating a fair and inclusive workplace environment.

Andrew Newman, the CFO of Tomago Aluminium, emphasised the company’s proactive stance on enhancing diversity and inclusion, encouraging more female operators to explore opportunities within the organisation.

In line with this commitment, Tomago Aluminium recently established the Women@TAC Committee, serving as a platform for open dialogue and collaborative efforts to tackle gender-related issues. This committee meets every month and provides employees, regardless of gender, with an opportunity to share ideas, address challenges, and advocate for gender equality initiatives to foster a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.

As International Women’s Day approaches, themed ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ Tomago Aluminium’s leadership in gender pay equity should serve as an inspiration for other organisations in the Hunter region.
