Our People, Our Future

This month, we’re proud to introduce Aman Kaur, our Occupational Hygienist and a rising star in her field who is balancing her role at TAC with postgraduate study at the University of Wollongong.

Aman began working at Tomago in 2023, she had already spent a year pursuing her Masters in Occupational Hygiene when she joined TAC.  Recognising the challenge of combining full-time work with academic study, Tomago has supported Aman by providing the flexibility and encouragement she needs to excel in both. “Having the backing of my leaders and colleagues has made a huge difference,” Aman shared. “It allows me to apply what I’m learning straight into practice onsite.”

Earlier this year, Aman was announced as the sole recipient of a prestigious scholarship from the University of Wollongong—a significant achievement awarded from hundreds of applicants. The scholarship helps her manage the costs of travel and accommodation while completing her Masters. At the awards night in Perth, Aman acknowledged her mentors and the team at Tomago for their ongoing support.

That support is paying off. Aman has already delivered meaningful results at TAC, including leading the company’s first site-wide baseline survey in occupational hygiene. To date, she has coordinated the collection of over 630 samples, identifying opportunities to streamline the process. As part of her final university project, Aman is working alongside our Paste Plant Trades team to gain a deeper understanding of their exposure levels through a range of monitoring activities. She is also in discussions with the University of Wollongong and Edith Cowan University to bring students onsite for project work—an initiative that not only supports her research but also provides valuable hands-on industry experience for the next generation of occupational hygienists.

Her initiative is helping Tomago strengthen its safety and health monitoring while saving significant costs and demonstrating how investing in people creates benefits across the business.

As Aman works towards completing her Masters in 2025, we’re proud to walk alongside her on this journey and look forward to the expertise she will continue to bring to Tomago Aluminium.
