Community

Supporting the communities that our people live and work in is at the heart of what we do here at Tomago. Our site joins the Hunter Valley Botanic Gardens and we are proud to partner with them in a range of projects.

Our staff give generously from their pay each week through the Out-of-Pay Donation Scheme. Money generated through employee donations is matched by the company dollar-for-dollar and donated to four chosen charities each year. For example in 2015 staff donated more than $33,000 to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter

Other charities supported during 2015 include:
Beanie for Brain Cancer
Botanic Gardens
Hunter Valley Research Foundation
Road Safety Education Limited
Port Stephens Council
Variety the Children’s Charity
Newcastle City Council
Daniel Morcombe Foundation
Kurri Rotary Club
Grahamstown Public School

Tomago to the Rescue
Wind gusts of up to 110km per hour and almost 300mm of rain during the April super storm left Hunter Region Botanic Gardens in a sorry state. With fallen trees and branches blocking many paths and trees weakened and in danger of falling, there was a high risk of endangering visitors. Tomago provided a cherry-picker, large crane, equipment and landscaping contractors who worked in the gardens for five days to help with the clean up. Unfortunately Tomago could not save the $5,000 worth of food in the fridge!
